Hubballi: Mayor Iresh Anchatgeri, who is one of the most active mayors of the twin cities after Shivu Hiremath, is making many firsts against his name. The mayor, who is implementing many people-friendly projects, has been vocal about the welfare of the public.
He was the first to ditch the practice of wearing a mayoral gown and was vocal against the poor quality of smart city work. His tenure will be remembered for his bold decisions. Now the mayor will be presenting his first budget, and he wants to make it a memorable one.
Mayor Anchatgeri told www.hubliexpress.com that the budget he will be presenting will have many firsts. He said the budget size will cross Rs 1,000 crores, and it will be the first time in the history of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation. He said he would present the budget with a vision how the twin cities should look in 2050.
The mayor also revealed that the budget, like previous ones, will not have projects that appear on every budget. He said he would give emphasis on the creation of a new and permanent source of income and the vision to make HDMC self-reliant, cutting the dependency on government grants.
He said this time he will seek opinions from seniors, writers, engineers, doctors, technical experts, chartered accountants, urban experts, finance experts, and citizens.
He said that he already had a preliminary meeting with HDMC officials and will chair a meeting with all party leaders. He said he would ensure that most of the promised projects would be implemented within the timeframe and inform the public about them in a transparent manner.
