Gadag: The Shirahatti police have solved a murder case reported in Hosalli village and have arrested four accused in connection with it.

The accused have been identified as Markand Bandiwaddar, 28, Malleshi Bandiwaddar, 27, Huchhappa Bandiwaddar, 41, and Devakka Bandiwaddar, 31. All are residents of Hosalli in Shirahatti taluk.

The police said that the accused had murdered Irappa Sorappanavar, 60, a resident of Hosalli, over his alleged illegal affairs with accused Devakka by smashing his head with a boulder while he was fast asleep under a shed in the village in the wee hours of Monday.

The police team that rushed to the spot with the sniffer dog “Rambo” solved the case quickly as he gave initial clues to the investigating team by visiting the accused houses. The team, around 9 am on Tuesday, arrested the absconding accused near Kappatgudda.

The Superintendent of Police, Shivaprakash Devaraju, hailed the efforts of the police and dog squad in quickly solving the case.
