Will the state remain under strict lockdown even after June 7? What Bommai said…

Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will decide on extending lockdown in the state even after June 7 after consulting his cabinet colleagues said Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Bommai clarified that the Union Government circular states that there should be strict restrictions till June 30 to curb the spreading of novel Coronavirus, but in what form the restrictions should be implemented that decision would be taken by the Chief Minister, said Bommai.

The Home Minister said that the Covid positivity rate in the state is still high, it should drop below 10 per cent. The spreading of infection should be controlled in rural areas and the death rate should become low.

Bommai said that the state government has asked the GST council to release compensation of Rs 11,000 crore to the state which is pending for the financial year 2020-21.

The economy of the state was on the recovery path, but the second wave of Covid has marred the progress. He said, he demanded the GST council to compensate for losing GST that occurred during the lockdown period.
