Bengaluru: Today, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Suresh Kumar will hold a meeting to discuss the reopening of schools in Bengaluru. Due to the rapid spread of a novel Coronavirus, schools across the state were closed.
Today’s meeting will decide whether or not to reopen schools.
If the government decides to reopen the schools, the mode of instruction will most likely be decided. The meeting will be attended by higher-ranking officials from the education department. At today’s meeting, the government is expected to make a decision.
As the number of Covid cases in the state decreases, the government may be encouraged to make a decision on this, and an expert panel led by well-known cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty has already submitted an interim report, in which the experts suggest that schools can be reopened by implementing safety measures.
Minister Suresh Kumar has already met with all stakeholders and is eager to restart the revised version of Vidyagama, in which children would attend classes near their homes.
Meanwhile, registered Non-aided schools have urged the government to consider their request to reopen schools, and the government should not discriminate between government and private schools when announcing school reopenings. The school administrations have stated that the schools should begin in shifts.
