Belagavi: As the introduction of boiled eggs in the Kalyana Karnataka district’s midday meal scheme provoked controversy, people from all walks of life began to express their support or disapproval of the government’s decision.

 As the controversy rages on, women and child development minister Halappa Achar has indicated that the government will continue to provide eggs to students, while those who do not like eggs will be provided milk.

He stressed that eggs were included in the midday meal menu based on the advice of experts and that eggs will continue to remain on the menu.

In response to a question, would Anganwadis be closed as a result of the outbreak of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus? The minister replied, Anganwadis are only open for two hours a day, as recommended by experts, and their hours will be gradually increased. He emphasized that any recommendations made by the health authorities would be strictly implemented.
