A private bus carrying over 30 passengers caught fire on the Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway, narrowly avoiding a major tragedy on Saturday.
The vehicle, en route to a wedding in Mysuru city, was engulfed in flames due to a malfunction in the air-conditioning system. Though nobody was harmed, the passengers’ valuables and luggage were destroyed.
The fire was noticed by alert passengers and they were able to disembark quickly, but the bus was soon completely destroyed. Passengers were unable to retrieve their belongings, including cash and wedding jewelry, but were assisted by other travelers and emergency services. Srirangapatna Town Police are investigating the incident.
