Gadag: During the Jilladhikarigala Nade Hallikade (Deputy Commissioner’s March Toward Village) programme in Kurahatti village in Ron taluk, Gadag district, officers were embarrassed when a villager asked them to open three bars in the village so that the villagers could get liquor in the village itself.
He said that the village has a population of around 4,000 and there are around 600-700 alcohol lovers in the village, and considering their strength, the administration should open bars and Tahsildar should give permission for this.
The video of this incident has gone viral. The man also asked the police department to take steps to curb the sale of illegal liquor in the village and demanded that jobs be provided to the wives of those drunkards who died due to their alcoholism. A police officer who was on the dais assured the man that they would take steps to curb the sale of illegal liquor.
