Vijayapura – May 21: Six people tragically died in a horrific accident that occurred on the Solapur-Chitradurga National Highway (NH-50) near Managuli on Wednesday morning.
The accident involved a Mahindra Scorpio, a bus, and a lorry in a chain collision. According to reports, the Mahindra Scorpio, which was heading towards Solapur, first hit the highway median, bounced over it, and then collided with a VRL bus traveling from Mumbai to Ballari. Subsequently, it also struck a lorry that was coming in the same direction.
Those who died on the spot include T. Bhaskaran Manikandan, Canara Bank Manager from Gadwal, Telangana, his wife Pavithra, son Abhiram, daughter Jyothsna (all occupants of the Mahindra Scorpio), Vikas Makani from Horti, Vijayapura district (the TUV driver), and Basavaraj Rathore from Talagutagi Thanda (the bus driver).
The vehicles involved in the serial accident were a Maharashtra-registered Mahindra Scorpio (MH 13 BN 8364), a VRL bus (MH 12 VT 7982), and a lorry (KA 22 AA 3117).
Bhaskaran’s 10-year-old son, Praveen Tej, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
Superintendent of Police Lakshman Nimbargi and other police officials visited the accident site. A case has been registered at the Managuli Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
