Vijayapura: The police have arrested three people, including the prime accused, in connection with the rape of a lady that happened in Vijayapura city.
A man raped and assaulted a mentally challenged girl, and two others assisted him in the crime. The incident occurred on January 17, night, near the city’s central bus stand, when the girl was waiting for a bus, and the three accused offered her a ride to her village. And the girl believed them and agreed to go with them. The accused took her to a deserted place in a vegetable market, and one of them raped and sexually assaulted her, said the police.
The accused have been identified as Rahil, Umar Faroq, and Ayaz Ahmad Zamadar. They are all orphans and ragpickers by profession. According to the police, they roam the city at night because they lack shelter.
Police received information about the crime from local residents as they found the girl crying in pain. The police personnel from the women’s station rushed to the scene and shifted the victim to the hospital.
The accused were nabbed by the police based on the visuals captured on CCTV cameras and tower dump data.
