Dharwad: District In-Charge Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa, Hubballi-Dharwad (West) MLA Aravind Bellad visited SDM Medical College on Sunday and took stock of the situation. The minister and MLA were accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil and health department officials.
Deputy Commissioner Patil said that around 4,000 samples were tested so far and that the testing would be increased further. Those who tested negative would undergo another test for COVID after one week, he said.
The DC said that they are waiting for the results of the genome sequencing of the samples sent to Bengaluru. Unless the results are available, it is hard to tell whether any student was infected with the Omicron variant of the virus.
