Hubballi: A Ford Fiesta car parked on Koppikar Road caught fire on Wednesday afternoon. Sources said the car belonged to Mallikarjun Navalli, a resident of Tirlapur village in Navalgund. The Navalli family came to Hubballi to buy clothes for a marriage ceremony. The driver of the car parked the car on Koppikar Roa and they all went to market to buy clothes and within 30 minutes the car caught fire, said sources.
The incident happened around 2 pm. Passers-by, after noticing the car on fire, called the fire brigade, before that the nearby shop owners tried to douse the fire using fire extinguishers and because of their efforts the fire did not spread to the other parts of the car and by that time a fire tender reached spot and doused the flames.
Fire brigade officials said the fire was doused within a few minutes and front part of the car was damaged. The fire might have caused due to excessive heat, said locals.
