Navalgund: As many as 130 students suffered a few very tense hours, as their school, Adiveppagouda Siddanagouda Patil Government Highschool in Amargol in Navalgund taluk was surrounded by floods owing to heavy downpour on Thursday afternoon.
The authorities jumped into action and they used tractors as rescue vehicles, and the students were brought to a safer place.
All of the students were rescued safely, and tractors were used to transport them to a safer location, said Dharwad Superintendent of Police P Krishnakant. On Thursday, at 4 pm, it started raining heavily, and within no time, a small stream flowing near the school started overflowing and causing flooding. The students were asked to stay in the building by the people who were standing on a road and were monitoring the development. They called the police, and the cops started the rescue operation. The students waited till help arrived for them, said a source.
