Hyderabad: Sarath Babu, a renowned actor who was recently hospitalized for multi-organ failure, tragically passed away on Monday, said sources.
Despite rumors circulating about his demise earlier, his family had provided updates on his health and urged movie lovers to disregard the false information. Sarath Babu had been receiving treatment at AIG Hospital in Hyderabad.
Born Satyam Babu Dikshithulu, Sarath Babu made his acting debut in 1973 with the Telugu film “Rama Rajyam.” His Tamil cinema debut came four years later in 1977 with “Pattina Pravesam,” directed by K Balchander. However, it was his portrayal of Venkatachalam in “Nizhal Nijamagiradhu” that catapulted him to fame in the Tamil industry. In 1979, he ventured into Malayalam cinema with the film “Sarapancharam,” directed by Hariharan.
Throughout his illustrious career spanning over five decades, Sarath Babu graced the silver screen with his presence in more than 200 films. He also made appearances in a few Hindi films. Most recently, he was seen in Pawan Kalyan’s blockbuster movie, “Vakeel Saab.”
