Belagavi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Rajeev Topannavar has demanded that Belagavi’s domestic airport be upgraded to the ‘international level’.
Rajeev said that the airport has all the eligibility to become an international airport, and it was the second busiest airport in the state, but BJP leaders from Hubballi did not digest this success and cancelled 12 flights by putting pressure on the airline companies, he alleged.
He also targeted MP Mangala Suresh Angadi and Rajya Sabha MP Iranna Kadadi for remaining mute spectators. “It is sad that our leaders like MP Mangala Suresh Angadi and Iranna Kadadi remained mute spectators. not reacted despite the injustice meted out to Belagavi. “For the sake of response, they wrote a letter to the union minister,” charged Rajeev.
The AAP leader also demanded that the flights, which had been cancelled earlier, be restored, and Belagavi leaders should protest, demanding that the domestic airport be upgraded to the international level. He said that his party would launch a Twitter campaign in this regard to draw the attention of the Union Government on this issue, and it would initiate an online campaign to name Belagavi Airport after freedom fighter Rani Chennamma.
