Haveri: Two people died on the spot and 19 other passengers suffered injuries after the private service sleeper class bus on which they were travelling broke the railings of the bridge and fell off. The accident happened near Devagiri village in Haveri Rural police station limits in the wee hours of Saturday.
The police said that the bus was going to Gokak from Bengaluru and the bus driver, while attempting to overtake a truck, lost control of the vehicle and the bus veered off the bridge and fell on the service road below. Luckily, there was no vehicle at the time of the accident, said the police.
The bus driver and a 30-year-old lady died on the spot. There were a total of 32 passengers on that bus and 19 of them suffered injuries, said the police.
The Haveri Rural police have registered a case in this regard.
