Two died during bull catching event

Shivamogga: Two people were killed when a bull attacked them during a Hori Habba or bull capturing event held in Malur village, Shivamogga district, as part of the Makara Sankranti celebration. Lokesh, 32, and Ranganath, 24, have been identified as the deceased.

Hori Habba, or Hori Bedarisuva Spardhe, Kobri Hori, or Hatti Habba, is held in rural Karnataka during the Sankranti celebration. Bulls are released loose among the crowd, with the captor receiving a prize.

According to accounts, Lokesh and Ranganath were both injured after a bull stabbed them in the chest. They were taken to Shivamogga’s district hospital but died from their injuries on Monday. Police have charged the event organisers.
