Bengaluru: The State Transport Employees’ Associations have been protesting for the past three years to meet various demands, including a pay hike. And the state government remained mum on fulfilling their demands, and now the like-minded forum of Transport Corporation employees has called for a strike by suspending bus services from March 24.
As the employees’ unions have called for an indefinite strike, Transport Minister B Sriramulu has called for a meeting with leaders of the employees’ union. The meeting will be held today (March 8) at 6.30 pm at Vidhana Soudha.
In April 2021, the government gave a written assurance to pay transportation employees on the pattern of the Sixth Pay Commission. But even after two years, no demand has been fulfilled, and even in the budget, nothing has been said about the demands of the transport workers, Transport Union President R Chandrasekhar said.
Will the employees’ association change its decision of launching a protest or they will continue with the plan? Will be determined only after the meeting.
