Third wave: HDMC collects Rs 1.36 lakh in fines for violation of Covid rules

As the Covid cases are increasing in the district, the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation also taking tough measures to curb the spread of the virus. They are imposing fines on the Covid rules violators and on Wednesday they took the help of the police department to fine those found violating Covid norms.

The HDMC said that on Wednesday they collected a fine of Rs 1.36 lakh by fining 580 people. 431 people were fined for not wearing masks, whereas 149 were fined for not maintaining social distance. So far the HDMC collected Rs 77.41 lakh in fines.

The HDMC staff along with policemen visited places like hotels, eateries, shops and fined the violators.

264 New cases 

The district reported 264 new cases of COVID on Wednesday, and the total number of active cases reached 805 in the district.
