God has created a wonderful human-machine and it is so inventive that it gives all the warning signals before a major health disaster is likely to happen to one’s own body. Unfortunately, we neglect early warning signs, taking them lightly and later land in major health problems. Recent medical studies have alerted the population not to disregard the early warning symptoms. For example, symptoms of an ischemic stroke (blood clot in the brain) could be experienced a few hours, days, or a week before the attack. (Scientific Journal of the American Academy of Neurology, March 2005). Eighty percent of strokes are caused by narrowing of the brain’s large or small arteries or by blood clots that prevent blood flow to the brain. A mild jolt like a “warning stroke” or “mini-stroke” that shows symptoms similar to a stroke, typically lasts less than 2-3 minutes and does not injure the brain. These warning signs are substantiated in various studies. The early warning signs are critical, and the most effective treatments should be initiated within hours of symptoms in order to prevent a major attack.
Early warning signs are:
Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body.
Sudden confusion or problems in understanding
Abrupt difficulty in speaking
Focusing problems in one or both eyes
Immediate dizziness, loss of balance or coordination, or difficulty walking suddenly severe headache.
In all other cases, like heart attack, gastroenteritis, viral fever, cancer, etc., the body gives early warnings, but we take it for granted and neglect it. Listen to your body and act immediately to avoid future complications. If you notice the slightest variations in your body’s functioning, please consult your doctor without any delay. Early treatment interventions can reduce the complications, recovery period and results are better.
