Hubballi: In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old woman identified as Vijayalaxmi Muchhakhandimath fell victim to theft during a wedding ceremony on May 15. The incident occurred at Sudharama Kalyan Mantap located in the Lokappana Hakkal area of Vidyanagar.
According to the police, Vijayalaxmi, hailing from Ramadurga, had traveled to Hubballi to attend a family wedding. Accompanied by her husband and children, the family was graciously provided with a room within the wedding hall premises to stay by their relatives. However, amidst the bustling atmosphere of the joyous occasion, a nefarious act took place.
Unidentified miscreants managed to gain entry into Vijayalaxmi’s room, which had been left unlocked. Seizing the opportunity, they swiftly made off with her precious gold ornaments, estimated to be worth a substantial sum of Rs 56,500. The stolen jewellery had been diligently stored within her vanity bag.
The distressed victim promptly reported the incident to the Vidyanagar police, who have since registered a case and initiated a full-fledged investigation. In the Vidyanagar area, these kinds of theft cases reported in the past as well.
