Hubballi: IAS officer Dr. Gopal Krishna B, who took charge on Thursday afternoon, swung into action on Friday early morning. He paid a surprise visit to many locations in Dharwad and checked on how the civic workers were working and their attendance too.
He interacted with the civic workers and asked them to work diligently, taking all the precautions. He first visited the Saptapur Bhavi area, where civic workers gather and give their attendance before commencing their work. Later, he visited the Line Bazar Hanumanth Devar Gudi area and interacted with civic laborers. He also visited the garbage yard in Hosa Yellapur and interacted with tipper drivers there.

Later, he had his breakfast at an Indira Canteen located near the New Bus Stand, where he had Idli and chutney and appreciated the taste.

Dr. Gopal Krishna told Hubli Express that the goal of his visit was to learn more about the HDMC and how it operates, as well as to grasp the ground realities and issues. The purpose of the meeting was to learn about the workers’ perspectives. “It was only my second day of work on Friday. I have my own ideas about what I want to do. I’ll need a day or two to get an insight into the corporation. I need the public’s help in making this city better and the corporation run more efficiently “he stated.
HDMC SWM wing Environmental Engineer Santosh Yarangalli, Naveen MN, Health Inspectors Madhukeshwar Raiker, Younus Khaji, Padmavati Tumbagi and others were present.
