Hubballi: The Hubballi Division operated its first Leased Parcel Cargo Express Train service from Vasco-da-Gama in Goa to Azara (Guwahati) in Assam.
The leased Parcel Cargo Express Train from Vasco-da-Gama in Goa State to Azara in Assam and back operated by M/s AVG Logistics, covering a distance of 3358 km (one way) commenced its maiden journey on 22.01.2022 carrying Food products, Tyres, etc. The train is having loading and unloading facilities at Navalur (Hubballi- in Karnataka), Charlapalli (Hyderabad in Telangana), Sankrail (Kolkota in West Bengal), New Jalpaiguri (West Bengal). The operator can load and unload his cargo at these stations.
The train consists of 15 Parcel Vans of 24 Tonne capacity and One Brakevan for the first six months (363.9 T) and 20 Parcel Vans thereafter(483.9 T). This will benefit for transportation of manufacturing goods from Goa, Karnataka, Telangana to East Coast and Assam apart from the Agricultural produces of the region.
In the return direction, tea, readymade garments, etc. are being transported from Assam, West Bengal to Telangana, Karnataka & Goa. The train departs every Friday at 19:00 Hrs. from Vasco-da-Gama and reaches Azara on Tuesday at 17:00 Hrs. In the return direction, the train leaves every Wednesday at 18:00 Hrs and arrives at Vasco-da-Gama at 08:30 Hrs on Sunday.
Arvind Malkhede, Divisional Railway Manager of Hubballi congratulated the officers’ team led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Harietha, and thanked officers in South Western Railway Zonal HQ for their guidance and support. He informed that this dedicated parcel service will run for the next 6 years which will offer regular dedicated parcel services from the town on the western coast of the country to cities in the Northeast region, and it will help in improving parcel revenues of Railways.
The revenue per round trip shall be Rs. 25.45 lakhs and Railway will generate a revenue of Rs. 114.68 Cr. over six years.
