Suspected monkeypox patient in Bengaluru test positive for chickenpox


According to Dr. K. Sudhakar, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, while the suspected monkeypox patient admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru tested negative for the infection, his test proved he had chickenpox.

The patient is from Ethiopia and was admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru after developing symptoms of monkeypox. His blood and lesion samples were sent to NIV in Pune for testing. The patient travelled to Bengaluru to undergo a kidney transplant. The minister stated that the state administration has taken all necessary precautions to avoid the spread of monkeypox and that travellers will be tested for the infection at airports.
