Suspect in Mangaluru Bomb Blast Case Misused Aadhaar Card of Hubballi Man

Hubballi: In the Mangaluru auto-rickshaw blast case, the suspect, who is said to be carrying a cooker in the auto-rickshaw that reportedly exploded has misused the Aadhaar card of a Hubballi man.

The Aadhaar card of one Premraj Hutagi, a native of Hubballi and a railway employee, was reportedly used by the suspect to rent a room in Mysuru.

It is also found that Hutagi is working in Tumakuru as a gateman. Hutagi told the Tumakuru media that he had lost his Aadhaar card a couple of times, the most recent being about two years ago. He said he got a new card using the 12-digit numbers but did not bother to file a police complaint. He said he was shocked to know that his Aadhaar card was misused in such a way.

He also confirmed that he got calls from Hubballi police and shared all the details and photos with them.

Meanwhile, Hubballi police have completed their local investigation and met family members of Hutagi, who stays in Mathura Colony; the local police have inquired about Premraj. They sought details from his parents and brother.

In Mangaluru, a moving autorickshaw exploded on Saturday, causing fire and heavy smoke. In the explosion, the driver and the passenger suffered burn injuries.

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, they have formed a special team to investigate the case, and a Forensic Science Lab team also collected evidence from the spot. In the incident, a few people suffered injuries, and they were undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, DGP Praveen Sood confirmed that the blast was not accidental but an act of terror.

He said “It’s confirmed now. The blast is not accidental but an ACT OF TERROR with intention to cause serious damage. Karnataka State Police is probing deep into it along with central agencies.”

In connection with the bomb blast case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and Intelligence Bureau (IB) officers conducted raids at many locations in the state on Sunday.
