Hubballi: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah refused to comment on former minister Satish Jarkiholi’s statement on the “Hindu” word.
He said already Randeep Surjewala, in charge of Karnataka, has commented on the issue. “I support Surjewala’s view,” said Siddaramaiah.
Surjewala condemned Jarkiholi’s statement and wrote, “Hinduism is a way of life and a civilizational reality. Congress built our nation to respect every religion, belief, and faith. This is the essence of India. The statement attributed to Satish Jarkiholi is deeply unfortunate and deserves to be rejected. We condemn it unequivocally.”
On the demand of some parties that HDMC allows the celebration of Tipu Jayanti at Idgah Ground in Hubballi, Siddaramaiah said the celebration of Tipu is not wrong but the government has banned it. He said he would wait for HDMC’s decision on this matter.
