Mandya MP, and actor Sumalatha Ambareesh has declared that she will be supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming assembly elections. She made this announcement at a press conference held at her residence in Mandya. The announcement she made just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the district on March 12.
Today in Hubballi, CM Basavaraj Bommai that there had been talks with Sumalatha about joining the BJP, and should announce her final decision. Sumalatha claimed that she took the decision keeping Mandya’s development in mind.
Sources have indicated that if Sumalatha becomes a member of the BJP, her current membership will be suspended, and to avoid legal complications she has decided to only extend her support to the saffron party.
