Sudan Faces Unprecedented Displacement Crisis with 10 Million Displaced

Sudan – Since the onset of the war in April 2023, over 10 million people in Sudan, representing 20% of the population, have been displaced, according to the International Organization for Migration. This has rapidly escalated into the world’s most severe displacement crisis.

Millions of Sudanese have sought refuge in neighboring countries such as Chad and South Sudan as they escape the conflict. The war has severely impacted the nation’s stability, leaving half of Sudan’s 50 million people grappling with extreme hunger. Nearly 18 million are experiencing acute food insecurity and urgently require humanitarian assistance.

The crisis underscores the dire need for global support and relief efforts to address the severe humanitarian challenges faced by the displaced population in the region.
