Still, 17 students from the Belagavi district are stuck in Ukraine :DC MG Hiremath

Belagavi: Deputy Commissioner Mahantesh Hiremath said that as many as 17 students who have gone to Ukraine to study medical education are still stuck in that country and efforts are being made to evacuate them safely.

Speaking to media persons, DC MG Hiremath said that as per the information provided by the state nodal officer, Dr Manoj Rajan, 19 students from Belagavi district have gone to Ukraine to study medicine, of which two have returned safely. The union government is making its efforts to safely evacuate other Indian nationals stuck in that war-affected country. A few union ministers have gone to neighbouring countries of Ukraine to coordinate the evacuation efforts, he said.

He said he had already shared the information of 17 students with the respective Tahsildars and they were instructed to meet the family members of the students and fill them with confidence. Hiremath said he would meet with family members of two students by this evening.

He said the administration has sent two officers to Mumbai, and they are sending all the information to the district administration.
