State government to provide Rs 150 crore for Dharwad-Kittur-Belagavi railway line

Bengaluru: The state government has announced that it would provide Rs 150 crore for land acquisition for Dharwad -Kittur-Belagavi railway line 

CM Basavaraj Bommai made this announcement in his budget speech on Friday. He said nine new railway line projects are effectively being implemented by State Government along with the Ministry of Railways on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis. State Government will bear the project cost including land acquisition cost. This year Union Budget of Rs.7,561 crore has been reserved for the development of the Karnataka Railway network.

Central Government has provided a total of Rs.1,537 crore for new railway projects in the current year Budget which includes Rs.220 crore for the Tumkur-Chitradurga Railway line project, Rs.150 crore for Shivamogga-Shikaripura, Rs.210 crore for Bagalkote-Kudachi, Rs.150 crore for Munirabad-Ginigera-Raichur, Rs.200 crore for Gadaga-Wadi, Rs.225 crore for TumkurRayadurga.

Apart from this, Central Government has given special priority to railway doubling projects. Rs.1,490 crores have been provided for the doubling project this year which includes Rs.100 crore for Baiyappanahalli-Hosur doubling project, Rs.150 crore for Hubballi-Chikkajajooru doubling project, Rs.400 crore for Hospet-Hubballi-LondaVasco-da-Gama doubling project, Rs.170 crore for Gadag-Hotagi doubling project, Rs.250 crore for K.R.Puram-Whitefiled project. The required State share will be provided for all these works, he said.

He said Tumkur – Rayadurga, Ginigera – Raichur, Bagalkote – Kudachi and ChikkamagaluruBeluru railway lines basic estimates were at Rs.2,880 crore which has been revised at Rs.5,838 crore in the previous year. An additional grant of Rs.960 crore will be provided by the State Government for this project, said the CM.
