State government decides to establish mega textile park in Kalaburgi, Vijayapura and Tumkur

CM Bommai

New Delhi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai met Union Minister Piyush Goyal and said that the State government has decided to establish an international-level mega Textile park in Kalaburagi, Tumkur and Vijayapura districts under the ‘Mitra’ scheme. These three districts are near both national and state highways besides connected well with all important cities and ports. Establishing the mega textile park in these districts will help in converting these districts into textile headquarters. Besides, it will help in fulfilling the dream of ‘Atma Nirbhar’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the textile sector.

Apart from this, Vijayapura, Tumkur and Kalaburgi districts are good in academics and have technical education institutions. Since they are in a position to provide the skilled human resources required for the textile industry, the Government of India must include these three districts under ‘Mitra’ scheme.

Release 2 lakh metric tonne rice to Karnataka

Bommai appealed to Union Minister Goyal to reconsider rules as the Centre has restricted only 10,000 metric tonnes of rice to Karnataka. On behalf of Food Corporation of India (FCI), the Centre must consider releasing 2 lakh metric tonne of rice to Karnataka under Open Market sale scheme till March 23, by considering it as a special case, and immediately release 50,000 metric tonne of rice immediately.

Water Resources Minister Govind Karjol, Additional Chief Secretary (Water Resources) Rakesh Singh and others were present.
