Kalaburgi: The state government looks like it was worried about the recent announcement of the Congress party that they would give Rs 2,000 to each housewife in the state if they voted to power in the assembly election, and to counter the Congress offer, the state government has made an announcement. According to Revenue Minister R Ashoka, the state government has agreed to grant Rs 2,000 per month to every family living below the poverty line, and the decision will be publicised in the upcoming budget.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in the Na Nayaki programme held in Bengaluru recently, announced this.

Speaking to reporters, Machanala Tanda in the district said on Tuesday night, “If elected, the Congress will provide Rs 2,000 every month. It will take effect in July. But we’ll start it right now.”

He said that more information about this would be revealed by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
