Following his disqualification as a Lok Sabha member due to a criminal defamation conviction, Rahul Gandhi, the former chief of the Congress party, has been asked to vacate his government-provided residence at 12 Tughlaq Lane by April 22nd.
As per regulations, disqualified parliamentarians are not entitled to government housing and have a 30-day period to vacate the premises. Having previously served as a Lok Sabha member for four terms, Gandhi won a seat in Kerala’s Wayanad in the 2019 election after losing in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi constituency. The Housing Committee of Lok Sabha issued the eviction notice to Gandhi.
