Hubballi: Congress party stalwart Sonia Gandhi made a passionate appeal to the people of Karnataka to vote for Congress in the upcoming elections to protect the state from the loot by the BJP government.

Addressing a gathering at the Youngster’s Sports Club on Saturday evening, Sonia Gandhi criticized the BJP leaders, accusing them of forming the government by indulging in dacoity and being involved in 40% of looting.

Sonia Gandhi further stated that the BJP leaders had become so arrogant that they neither replied to any questions nor to any letters. They believed that the constitutional organizations were in their pockets. She also accused the BJP leaders of threatening the people of Karnataka, warning that they would be deprived of the blessings of Modi if they did not vote for BJP.

However, Sonia Gandhi reminded the BJP that the political fortunes of any politician depended on the voters’ blessings and not on the party’s threats. She also rebutted the BJP’s allegations that the Congress would incite riots if it came to power in Karnataka, asserting that the people of the state were not helpless and would teach a lesson to the BJP on May 10th.

The former AICC chief assured the people of Karnataka that the guarantees announced by Congress would be implemented at any cost. She vowed that the people of Karnataka would not allow the BJP to loot Nandini and would prevent such looting on May 10th.

AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge charged that the state’s development came to a stand-still and the BJP leaders are indulging in corruption. The BJP’s promises of providing 2 crore jobs every year remain unfulfilled. People are fed up with inflation, unemployment, and corruption of this government and they have decided to send BJP leaders home by voting for the Congress, he said.

AICC former chief Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretary Manickam Tagore, AICC secretary Vishnunadh were present on the dais.

Former CM Jagadish Shettar, who recently joined the Congress party, had a brief conversation with Sonia Gandhi on the dais. Hubballi-Dharwad (West) constituency candidate Deepak Chinchore, Navalgund candidate NH Konaraddi, Hubballi-Dharwad (East) candidate Prasad Abbayya and others were present.
