Hubballi: Over 100 cops working in various police stations in Hubballi Dharwad Police Commissionerate have tested positive since January 3, sources said.
All the police staff who tested positive for COVID infection were asymptomatic, and a few families of those police staff were also infected, confirmed police sources.
Speaking to www.hubliexpress.com, Police Commissioner Labhu Ram said that by Saturday, almost all police personnel working in the police commissionerate were subjected to COVID testing. The step was necessitated following a few staff of a police station testing positive for COVID, he said.
So far, over 100 police officers have tested positive for the infection so far, and we are still compiling the figures; the exact figure will be available tomorrow morning. If any staff member has yet to undergo a test, they have been asked to give their nasopharyngeal swab at the nearest swab collection centre, said Ram.
Mass covid testing was conducted on January 12 and 13 said the top cop.
Ram said that the commissionerate is with the staff and taking care of all its staff and those who tested positive would remain in quarantine for the next seven days. Ram said that an ACP-rank officer and seven or eight inspectors were tested positive for the infection.
