Colombo: The Asia Cup 2023 final witnessed a remarkable turn of events as Indian paceman Mohammed Siraj bowled a dream spell against co-hosts Sri Lanka. In a stunning display of bowling prowess, Sri Lanka was bowled out for a mere 50 runs in just 15.2 overs, predominantly due to Mohammed Siraj’s outstanding performance, claiming six wickets in seven overs.

The start of the match gave no indication of the rapid collapse that followed for the Sri Lankan team. To add to Sri Lanka’s woes, Hardik Pandya also made a significant contribution with the ball, taking three wickets in just 2.3 overs.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka’s innings began to unravel right from the start as Jasprit Bumrah struck in the first three deliveries of the match. Under relentless pressure from the Indian bowlers, Sri Lanka now faces the prospect of wrapping up their innings within just 50 overs. Currently, Sri Lanka has managed to score a mere 12 runs while losing six wickets.
