Koppal: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah has said that the party high-command will take a decision on the choice of CM after taking the views of MLAs, if the party comes to power after the next Assembly polls in the state. However, he hinted that if the party regained power, a few MLAs wanted him to return as CM.

“It is their individual view, not the party’s. First, we need to win the next Assembly elections. Then party high command will take a decision on this,” said Siddaramaiah.

Commenting on MLA Arvind Bellad’s complaint to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri regarding his suspicion that his phone was being tapped, Siddaramaiah said phone tapping is illegal, whoever does it, be it the government or the police. “I also urged the government to conduct a probe into the allegations made by the legislator,” said Siddaramaiah.

“We all know what happened to the Ramakrishna Hegde government over the same issue and its outcome,” said Siddaramaiah.

The former CM was in Koppal to distribute food-kits to the pandemic-hit people, sponsored by the local Congress MLA Raghvendra Hitnal. Former ministers Zameer Ahmad and Shivaraj Tangadagi and others were present.
