New Delhi, 9 May (HS): Delhi’s Saket Court has framed murder charges against Aftab, accused in the Shraddha murder case. Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar framed charges against Aftab under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.
During the hearing, Aftab denied the allegations leveled against him. On April 15, the court had reserved judgment on the issue of framing of charges. On March 31, Aftab had told about other inmates in the jail assaulting him. After that, the court directed the jail administration to make adequate security arrangements during Aftab’s appearance. On March 25, Aftab changed his lawyer again. Aftab had appointed advocate Akshay Bhandari as his lawyer, replacing the lawyer appointed by the Legal Services Authority.
On March 20, the Delhi Police told the Saket court that Aftab had executed the incident deliberately. The Delhi Police said that circumstantial evidence suggests that Shraddha and Aftab’s live-in relationship was violent. The Delhi Police told the court that Shraddha was also consulting doctors through the Practo app.
Aftab is accused of killing Shraddha and cutting her body into thirty pieces. These pieces of the dead body were kept in the fridge and from time to time he used to take the body parts to different places and throw them. Later, the police recovered several organs of Shraddha on the pointers of Aftab.
