Hubballi: Suma Gumaste, who is on deputation as an AO at the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), has been appointed as the KIMS’s in-charge CAO.
The Director of KIMS, Dr. Ramalingappa Antartani, confirmed this to www.hubliexpress.com.
The government had appointed KAS officer Ismail Saheb Shirhatti to the position, replacing Rajashree Jainapur, who had held the position for the previous two and a half years.
Shirhatti, however, did not take charge because an influential politician wanted some other person for the position. Actually, Shirhatti’s name was proposed by another influential politician, resulting in a schism between the two leaders. As Suma became CAO, the politician gained an advantage over another politician who recommended the name of Shirahatti.
Sources said that Shirhatti’s appointment may get cancelled, with this the politician who recommended his name for the post seems to be lost all his influence in Dharwad district politics.
According to sources, the doctors were unhappy with Jainapur’s attitude because she interfered with hospital and college administration.
The government may issue official order appointing Gumaste as in charge of CAO in a day or two. But as of now, it was oral communication from the government and based on that she took charge, informed the director.
