Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar Resigns as MLA, Plans to Join Congress: Sources
Hubballi: Former chief minister, Jagadish Shettar has submitted his resignation as an MLA and from BJP’s primary membership after being denied a ticket to contest the upcoming election from Hubballi Dharwad Central Assembly constituency.
Sources close to Shettar revealed that he will be flying to Bengaluru this afternoon and is considering joining the Congress. If all goes as planned, Shettar may join the grand old party in the presence of former AICC chief Rahul Gandhi in Bengaluru this evening. Shettar met the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, at his home office in Sirsi on Sunday to submit his resignation.
Will Welcome Wholeheartedly if He Joins Congress
Meanwhile, BK Hariprasad, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council has said that they would welcome Jagadish Shettar wholeheartedly if he decides to join the Congress. ” Shettar is a senior leader, honest and people like him should be in politics. If he joins the party, he would be a strength to the party,” said Hariprasad.

State BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel said that BJP had given Shettar all possible opportunities and the party had tried its best to convince him not to take such decisions but despite this, he took a such decision.
