Hubballi: Former chief minister Jagdish Shettar and Minister for Handloom, Textile, and Sugar Shankar Patil Munenkoppa on Monday visited SDM Medical College and Hospital and inquired about the health condition of poet Chennaveer Kanavi, who is undergoing treatment after he tested positive for COVID.
Kanavi recovered from COVID, but his health condition remained critical.
Shettar met the medical team treating Kanavi and his family members. He asked the doctors to take good care of Kanavi and, if required, to take the help of doctors from other hospitals, including KIMS Hospital.
Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa said that the government is bearing the treatment cost of Chennaveer Kanavi and asked the doctors to give him the best possible treatment.
Dr Kiran Aithal, who is leading the team of doctors treating Kanavi, said that his health condition is improving compared to last week. His BP is under control, his kidneys are functioning normally, but his lungs are recovering slowly, but all the required treatment is going on, he said.
The doctors’ team consists of pulmonologist Dr. Shrikant Hiremath, anesthesiologist Dr. Srirang Torgall, and general physician Dr. Rajendra Parekh.
DHO BC Karigoudar, SDM Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Kiran Hegde, HDMC Member Shivu Hiremath, Vijayanad Shetty, SDM PRO Nagaraj Kallapur, and Kanavi’s family members were present.
