Jagadish Shettar, a former chief minister of Karnataka who was contesting from Congress in the Hubballi-Dharwad (Central constituency) has failed to win this time. Shettar had won the constituency six times in a row, but this time he was unable to secure a victory. Mahesh Tenginkai, Shettar’s opponent and BJP’s state general secretary, won the election, although the margin of his victory is currently unknown, sources said he won by 35,000 votes lead.
