Hubballi: Congress leader Jagadish Shettar has dismissed the impact of a team of around 50 members from the Rashtriya Swamyamsevak Sangha (RSS) arriving in Hubballi from Nagpur to campaign against him in the upcoming election.
News is doing rounds that the RSS team from Nagpur is camping in the city to do the work for the BJP candidate and he reacted to the question posed by the journalists on this.
Shettar stated that the team will not be familiar with the local situation and by the time they comprehend it, the elections will be over.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Rahul Gandhi at the airport on Sunday, Shettar expressed his confidence in the support of the people of Hubballi central constituency and the Congress party. He also highlighted that negative campaigning would have no impact on poll results, only the candidate’s good work would influence the outcome.
Shettar revealed that he had discussed various topics, including the BJP’s recent developments and the party’s neglect of Lingayats, with Rahul Gandhi during their lively chat.
He also mentioned that he is receiving invitations to campaign for Congress party candidates in various constituencies and that the party’s state leaders will finalize the schedule. Furthermore, Shettar expressed confidence that rebel candidate Altaf Kittur, who is contesting from Hubballi central constituency, will eventually be convinced.
