After a humiliating defeat to India, Pakistani cricketers are facing criticism online for their lackluster performance. Former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi expressed his disappointment, stating that the team lacked intent during the match against India. Pakistan suffered a substantial 228-run defeat against India in the Asia Cup Super Four match at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium.
In the match, India batted first and posted an impressive total of 356 runs in 50 overs. In response, the Pakistani team managed to score only 138 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 32 overs. Notably, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah couldn’t bat due to injuries.
Afridi took to Twitter (now X) to voice his frustration, saying, “Winning and losing are part of competition, but not putting up a fight, lacking the intent to win, is simply disappointing. This echoes what I mentioned in my previous tweet. India played like the number one team on the field, both in batting and bowling. Congratulations to Virat Kohli for achieving another significant milestone in ODI runs, well done by you and KL Rahul. Keep your spirits up, boys; you have the potential to perform better. Looking forward to the next Pakistan/India match.”
Currently, Pakistan is positioned third in the Super Fours table with two points and a net run rate of -1.892.
