Hapur, 15 May (HS): Around 40 monkeys were discovered dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur on Sunday. The monkeys were discovered dead in the bushes in Hapur’s Garhmukteshwar region.
The Forest Department speculated that the monkeys were poisoned since many watermelons and jaggery cubes were discovered at the spot. The authorities are looking into whether the meal was tainted with poison.
“The cause of death is being investigated,” police added. After several residents complained about a bad odour, police and forest authorities reached the spot. According to forest officials, the carcasses of the monkeys have been transferred to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Bareilly for autopsies.
