The State Bank of India (SBI) has introduced the ‘Nation First Transit Card,’ known as the RuPay NCMC Prepaid Card, at the Global Fintech Fest 2023. This card is designed to simplify commuters’ experiences by enabling digital fare payments for various modes of transportation, including metro, buses, water ferries, and parking. Additionally, it can be used for retail and e-commerce transactions.
SBI initiated NCMC programs with transit operators in 2019 and has launched cards like the “City1 Card,” “Nagpur Metro MAHA Card,” “MUMBAI1 Card,” “GoSmart Card,” and “Singara Chennai Card” for different metro systems.
The bank is also implementing NCMC-based ticketing solutions for MMRC Metro Line 3 and Agra Metro, with plans for public availability soon.
Dinesh Kumar Khara, Chairman of SBI, emphasized the bank’s commitment to simplifying banking and daily life for customers, stating that the Nation First Transit Card aligns with the national vision of ‘One Nation One Card’ and contributes to the country’s growth.
