Twenty-one-year-old Sanket Sargar, opened India’s tally with a silver medal in Men’s 55kg weightlifting. This is the youngster’s first big stage debut. Sargar took the lead following the snatch event, lifting 113 kg. Later, on his first effort, he lifted 135 kg in clean and jerk. He did not, however, lift 139 kg twice and received a silver medal for lifting a total of 248 kgs. He wounded himself somewhat when attempting to raise 139. However, the excitement of earning a medal for the country outweighs any discomfort.

As soon as the news broke, wishes started pouring in for the young weight lifter.

Many personalities took to Koo, a microblogging site to wish him on this memorable day.
