Hubballi: Renuka Sukumar, an IPS officer, officially assumed her role as the Police Commissioner of Hubballi-Dharwad, marking a significant milestone as the first woman to hold this position.
In an interview with hubliexpress, Renuka outlined her primary objective: to bolster the visibility and effectiveness of basic policing. She emphasized that when police officers, from constables to chiefs, carry out their responsibilities diligently and sincerely, a harmonious framework falls into place.
Having previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Renuka expressed her familiarity with the dynamics of Hubballi and Dharwad. While acknowledging the transformations the cities have undergone, she acknowledged recent incidents of violence and stabbing cases that have arisen. Her strategy to counter these challenges involves elevating fundamental policing efforts to curtail the crime rate.
Conducting her inaugural meeting with the entirety of the police personnel in the twin cities, she issued directives to monitor and curb the activities of anti-social elements.
