Bengaluru: The Congress party is feeling confident about the assembly election results in Karnataka after several exit polls have predicted that they may win an absolute majority.
In a bid to prevent opposition parties from luring away their candidates, the party has instructed all its candidates to reach Bengaluru as soon as they win. This move is intended to keep the candidates away from the influence of other parties and secure the formation of the government in case no party secures a clear mandate, said party sources.
AICC Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala has already reached Bengaluru and held a virtual meeting with all the candidates, including KPCC President DK Shivakumar and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah. During the meeting, sources said, Surjewala urged all Congress party workers to remain vigilant and guard the strong rooms where the EVM machines were stored.
He also made it clear that the Congress party may get the chance to form the next government in the state and that no one should be lured by offers from opposing party leaders. Instead, they should reach Bengaluru as soon as they win and remain in the place designated by the party until the formation of the government, the party insiders told.
Sources have revealed that the Congress party plans to move its MLAs to resorts in Telangana and Tamil Nadu, where the Central Government’s influence is minimal, and the state government is strong. This move is intended to prevent any attempts to poach their MLAs and ensure that they remain loyal to the party.
The Congress party in Karnataka has started its effort to form the government and is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the smooth formation of the government. With a clear strategy in place, they are confident in forming the next government and are working tirelessly to prevent any attempts by opposition parties to lure away their candidates.
