Hubballi: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of prioritizing election campaigning over governance.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Gehlot stated that both leaders were currently camped in the state of Karnataka, neglecting their duties, which indicated their desperation to win the upcoming state elections.
He expressed confidence that the Congress party would emerge victorious in the state elections, stating that it was essential for Modi and Shah to experience a defeat to reconsider their style of functioning and formulate policies that benefit the common man.
Gehlot highlighted the Congress party’s superior track record in developing states, contrasting it with the BJP’s rule. He pointed out that the Congress party in Rajasthan had fulfilled its election promises, including the waiver of agricultural loans for farmers from cooperative banks. However, Gehlot criticized Modi for not taking action to waive the loans of farmers who had availed themselves of loans from nationalized banks.
The Rajasthan Chief Minister also criticized Modi’s arrogance, recalling how he referred to senior opposition leaders as a “gang of corrupt” individuals. Gehlot warned that if the BJP were to win the upcoming state elections, democracy would be in danger, and Modi’s arrogance would only increase.
Imagine the circumstances Shettar joined the Congress
Gehlot also spoke out against the BJP’s treatment of senior leaders, citing the example of Jagadish Shettar, who had built the party from the grassroots level but later left to join the Congress party. He expressed concern about the circumstances that led Shettar to leave the BJP, highlighting the lack of respect shown to senior leaders.
In an effort to support the Congress party’s campaign, Gehlot campaigned for Jagadish Shettar, a former Chief Minister and Congress candidate from the Hubballi-Dharwad Central constituency in the city. He addressed the Rajasthani community in the city, encouraging them to vote for Shettar.
