Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot accused the BJP of being a party of lies, citing their unfulfilled promise of providing free gas cylinders to people in Goa and Uttar Pradesh if they voted for the party.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Gehlot said that the BJP’s promise of providing three free gas cylinders to BPL families in Karnataka was not believable given their track record. He also criticized the BJP’s unfulfilled promise of creating 2 crore jobs every year and depositing Rs 15 lakh in each person’s bank account in 2014.
Ashok Gehlot called for stronger state governance and fair treatment of state dues, accusing the BJP of attempting to topple elected governments, including the Congress government in Rajasthan. He urged the Prime Minister to introduce a right to social security, similar to the UPA government’s initiatives such as RTI, RTE, and MNREGA.
Ashok Gehlot praised the success of Rajasthan’s Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme and the Old Pension Scheme, which has been emulated by other states. He highlighted the Congress government’s welfare schemes, including inflation relief camps providing cooking gas cylinders for ₹500, free ration and education, and the urban employment guarantee programme.
Gehlot also emphasized the mandatory registration of FIRs by deprived sections of society in Rajasthan and the provision of a ₹200 crore welfare fund for workers in urban areas. The Congress has promised to raise the wages of Anganwadi and ASHA workers in Karnataka if voted to power.
